We all know by now that Google Chrome is a web browser by Google. Google held a press conference to announce the launch of Chrome. With Chrome, Google hopes to bring the best of various browsers. As per the about dialog it uses Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US) AppleWebKit/525.13 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/0.2.149.27 Safari/525.13 .
What is missing?
We all know by now what it has and I would like to mention what is missing from it.
- Chrome uses WebKit which is also used by Safari and so both of them does not support the JQuery Popups.
- Does not support Google Toolbar
Now the question comes as to why Google after spending millions of dollars in supporting Firefox suddenly went over to Chrome.
The possible reason could be.
Ads
We all know Google and its innovative way of placing Adwords Ads on pages and now they may have some plans in placing ads on non pages as well. Google may have plans to show some advertisements inside the browser like about:blank page and that may not be suitable on Firefox.
Collect Data
Like in Analytics Google would like to collect some data ( of course with permission ) which would not be possible on Firefox platform.
Killing the competitors
As it does not support toolbar which means we can use mainly Google Search as well as products powered by Google. Of course you can use other search engines by making new search and use it. e.g. Add Go4Expert to your Google Search. I am not using Chrome now because of StumbleUpon toolbar which I use very often
