Because there are just no hand-me-down rules for Search Engine Optimization. However, the suave SEO professional can work diligently to put his site on top of search engine listings using these smart SEO techniques.

1. SEO-optimized web design: Make it easy for the search engine spiders to spot you. A logical approach to design attracts spiders better. Keep the design simple and specific. Make navigation hassle-free and provide links to other sites, wherever applicable.
2. SEO-optimized web content: Research and identify keywords that are applicable to your website and use them in the website content. Search engines are constantly on the lookout for these keywords. If your content is keyword-optimized, chances of your site appearing on top of a search for that particular keyword is higher. 5. Use press releases: Use press releases to make announcements about your company’s activities from time-to-time. But use it only when there is something interesting to tell. This way, you get to share vital information about your business while creating links to your website.
6. Submit articles: Articles sites are a great way to create links to your site. Provide keyword-rich content that is loaded with interesting information related to your area of expertise. This way, you get people interested in your business and you provide link visibility to search engines.
7. Submit to directories: Submit links to reputed directories like Yahoo, DMOZ, Best of the Web and so on. Get links from sites related to your area of activity. Go local and build links on sites specify to your locality.
8. Use social media: Use social media sites and groups to build relationships, links and enhance your online presence. Be an active contributing member in social media sites like Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn. Use Yahoo Answers to inform and build links. Start a blog and create links to your site from the blog. 1. Blog comments - You don’t have to spam on every blog but just posting genuine comments on good blog's in your niche can help you get many decent related links.
2. Forum Participation - Many forums including Go4Expert.com allows you to put links in your signature. Each post you make in forum and your link is automatically added at the end of the post giving you good number of backlinks just for being nice in forum.

8. Content - Create compelling content that people actually want to link to. From Experience "A Complete Guide" type of articles get lot of links.
9. Spy on your Competitor - Check your competitors to see if there are any available links. The operator I use in Yahoo is simply “link:pageurl -site:domain.com” (no quotes) obviously and changing the parts in italics for the site that is actually ranking well for my keyphrase.
10. Free Websites - Sign-up with sites like Squidoo, Blogger, Hubpages ... , write about whatever you please, and link to yourself however you want.
11. Ask - Last but by no means the least. Ask people to link back to your site. Do not worry about the fact that many will not link but if few do it, it can take you a long way.

How to get 2k+ links?

Find 3 blogs and 3 forums in your niche and make one post daily on each of those and you will have 2000+ backlinks to your website in a year's time. Imagine how much web traffic that would drive to your blog with hardly 10 minutes of effort break daily.

I am not counting on the 9 other ways of adding more links.

The problem is most people don’t have it in them to do this every day. They can waste hours doing wrong things but when it comes to actual implementation they lack a strategy.

Get yourself a good strategy to building related links over time. Do not try to do things overnight.

Why All in One SEO do this?

Now first question that comes to mind is why. Why does All in One SEO do this? The main reason I could see for doing this is majority of Wordpress templates have category and tags pages showing full post content and this actually mean that you have the same content on post and category pages and so having a "no-index", "no-follow" on those pages can actually help you from the duplicate content penalty.

So how to go about avoiding duplicate content as well as allow indexing of category and tags pages.

Do not show full content on category pages.

You should not show the complete post in your category pages and if you have theme which shows that I will suggest editing the theme. Check for the archive file in your theme folder and find the function the_content and replace it with the_excerpt.

Now as you have your category pages made more like listing pages install the All in One SEO plug-in for Wordpress and make sure you do not use the "no-index", "no-follow" for your category, tags pages.

On the official blog if you read they say that this is not effecting majority of us.

Currently, fewer than 1% of search queries are affected by the site speed signal in our implementation and the signal for site speed only applies for visitors searching in English on Google.com at this point. We launched this change a few weeks back after rigorous testing. If you haven't seen much change to your site rankings, then this site speed change possibly did not impact your site.

Google in an FAQ about PageRank says that Google PR is just one of 200 factors that influence a page's ranking. So Google PR may not be as important as speed of the page and so I thought of checking it for few of my sites and I really saw that my sites seems to be quite slow for more than one reason.

There were quite a few suggestions as well from Google

1. Enable gzip compression
2. Combine external JavaScript
3. Minimize DNS lookups

I am not sure how much accurate is the report but I have mod_deflate enabled into my Apache web server and so it should take care of all compression but definitely I need to look further into it and see if I can reduce my page load time as suggested by Google.

When it comes to combining External JavaScript which is virtually impossible because we all use lots of third party JavaScript Like AdSense, AddThis, Analytics, AWeber and many others which provide their own JavaScript code which cannot be combined always and also needs an additional DNS lookup.

How do I create a video to promote my website?

If you also have the same question read further.

Actually for creating a video you will hardly need anything fancy. Camcorder, digi-cam or even a web-cam is good enough to create videos.  It may be just that you think too much when you are able to see yourself on screen. Creating a video on technical ground is lot easier then you can think off.

Now after you have your first movie file (.wmv or .mov) if you would like to have your video edited to include your website URL / Logo you can edit using video editing software's like Windows Movie Maker. Do not think about fancy text, graphics to start with but yes do think Viral when creating a video. Funny videos are more often than not becomes viral but remember to keep it original

If you are still not interested in creating video, you can support videos that are currently being made on YouTube to drive traffic to your website. Choose videos that are relevant to your site content to support it.
